2013 Bodegas San Roman, Toro, Spain (6*75cl)

£174 VAT included

Bodegas y Vinedos Maurodos is the lead light of Toro. Founded in 1997 by former Vega Sicilia winemaker Mariano Garcia Fernandez. These vineyards of local Tempranillo clones (Tinta de Toro) live within an extreme continental climate, with minimum rainfall, abundant hours of sunshine and strong temperature contrasts between night and day. The oldest vines are planted with un-grafted original rootstock as these vineyards were not affected by the phylloxera. The aging for about 18 months was carried out in French and American oak barrels of which 20% was new oak.   93/100 Wine Advocate
